Default Strange delay when recording (could be Izotope related)

We're working on a new song and all of a sudden when recording the newly recorded music was delayed by a few milliseconds. I had begun mastering this track before so I had added Izotope Ozone on the master track. When I deleted it the problem went away. Then my bass player added some new tracks and they had the delay when playing back. But we noticed that if the output was set to Output 1-2 instead of the routing folder the delay went away. I just recorded some new guitar tracks and noticed the same thing. When playing back there's a delay. If I send the output to Output 1-2 instead of the routing folder the delay goes away.

What the heck is going on? Since deleting Ozone fixed it the first time I'd say it might be Izotope related, but the routing folder thing is really odd. I do have Izotope effects (Neutron) on the routing folder's Inserts, so that could be it. When I delete that plug-in though the problem persists.

What the heck could be going on?

Recording with high bandwidth plugs on the master buss will always induce a delay. Save any plugs like that for playback and mixing.

You can right-click and disable high-latency plugins when you need to record more tracks, then just re-enable it when you're finished. Bypassing won't do it, needs to be disabled.

I took out all Izotope plugins (deleted them) and it’s still there. The only way to make it go away is to route everything to Output 1-2 instead of the routing folders.

Since re-routing works I don’t think the delay was recorded - it only happens during playback.

Seems like a PT bug.

Maybe there is some bug in latency compensation when the amount of latency compensation needed is over the maximum? Try disabling the compensation, saving and restarting the session, then enabling it again.
