Default Re: Pro Tools 11 Crash Reporter - send in those crash logs!

If I recall correctly, Pro Tools 11 won't import OMF or AAF files with embedded video.

Avid,

Do you still check the crash reports coming in? ;-)

I've recently purchased and upgraded to Pro Tools 11. 11 crashes an awful lot on me, a few times an hour actually. I keep sending those crash reports to you as often I can but sometimes 11 just hangs and I have to "Force Quit". When that happens, Apple gets the report instead. These crashes most often happen when I close Pro Tools or when I close a project (SHIFT-CMD-W).

EDIT: 11 does not crash on me that often anymore since I began running it under 10.9.3 instead of 10.8.5 (both being completely fresh installs).

Best regards,
//Marcel

My normally brick-solid 11 HDX system had an interesting quirk last weekend. I had moved the truck to cover another job, and during setup I did what I used to do as standard procedure in TDM: I built the session on my system drive, and pointed the session to record to the data drives. Pro Tools then started crashing, crashed all morning, and had me very concerned.

Thinking that it couldn't possibly be that simple I closed the session, moved it to a data drive, re-opened it, and never had another crash (another day and a half of work).

It's possible I'm conflating different causes and effects here, and that the two things aren't related. I merely offer this as yet another piece of the puzzle. I'm going to RTFM tonight and see if I can find what Avid says about this.

I am a little interested in "standard procedure in TDM: I built the session on my system drive, and pointed the session to record to the data drives."
Is that something that is important in TDM sessions for some reason?
Why not build the session on the drive you are recording to?

Thanks!

Default Re: Pro Tools 11 Crash Reporter - send in those crash logs!

I'm running PT 11.1.2 on my iMac, OS10.9.4 with UAD Apollo quad.

PT 11 started off well, but lately I notice weird crashes. No freeze, no warning. ProTools just 'Poof'.. disappears of the screen. I've been sending reports. It would probably happen at least once a day... I don't know what else to do. I get nervous every time I start working on ProTools these days..

Any suggestion or does anyone have this issue?

Using mostly Native instruments Kontakt, Nexus2, Spectrasonic inst and UAD plugins...

10.9.4 is not supported yet, but hopefully there will soon be a 11.2.1 which should work better with the current OSX

Thanks.. I really hope they come up with the update soon. I didn't see on the website where there was a compatibility issue...

So far that has been the only problem with PT 11. Once that's fixed, it might be one of the most solid version of PT I've worked with since PT 7!

I just upgraded to PT 11.3. When I tried to turn off elastic audio on a specific track I get the following error.

Assertion in "e:\ code\ 148029\ protools\ newfilelibs\ time\ Time_TypedBase.h", line 164.

When this happened it wipe out all audio data on that track and the only way to get rid of the error message was to close out the session. Thank goodness for auto-save!

I run 11.3 on multiple machines, at school and at home, and get numerous crash and error messages.

Crash reporter causes hang on all machines.

School machines:
Error occurs when trying to enable or use any plugins. We have nothing but the bare bones basic install plugins.
See the attached jpg for screenshot.

"AAE error 6"

Also, trying to open the demo session from Avid, as well as sessions from our old PT SE install causes PT 11 to hang (not responding).
