Default Protools 12.4 Freezes when Idle on Win7 , Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 USB

PT 12.4
Win 7 Pro
Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 USB
No screen saver,
No drive sleep,
all USB hubs Power Mgmt set to keep on.

If I leave a session open for an hour or more and let sit idle,
and usually I'll turn AOC 27" hdmi monitor off while idle,
I'll come back and the session window has been resized to a smaller size.

And session essentially frozen, sometimes I can close session, but usually I have to kill PT with Task Manager and restart PT.

I've tried power cycling the Scarlett,
only thing I haven't tried was unplugging, replugging in the USB cable to
Scarlett which I read someone did somewhere with a different device.

Any ideas?

FWIW, I never leave a session open for more than 5-10 minutes. My rig is completely different than yours but I still had similar experience. Now, whenever I am going to be away, I save and close the session(leaving PT open). Never had an issue since

BTW, you don't need to turn the monitor off as flatscreens do not suffer screen burn like the old CRT;s did. Turning the screen off is confusing your graphics processor, hence the screen resolution change

Your build looks pretty solid, so I don't think that is causing the issue. Have you done all of the Avid recommended optimizations (Additional Resources at the top of this page)? Again, probably not causing your issue, but a very good idea to do all of the optimizations.

As Albee1952 said, save and close your session when you are going to be away for more than a few minutes. If you do that and still leave PT open, does the freeze still happen?

I did have HDMI Audio enabled to the Monitor (which has an audio output jack, but no speakers unfortunately ;(.

This could have been the cause, so I disabled that and will have to try a few more tests with hdmi audio disabled and report back.

Ideally, would be nice to know if it's possible to keep hdmi audio to monitor on so we could send windows sound to monitor via HDMI instead of to PT I/O device like Scarlett.

I didn't even know speakers in hdmi monitors was a thing - sales guy probably could have upsold me at the time if he had 'em, though with my luck they'd probably end up impacting performance with the PT/Scarlett combo anyway, especially with the sample rate change tango.
