Default I finally got iTunes the way I like it.

5045 songs. 30.19 GB. I've still got 50% of my music collection to go. Tracks ripped with EAC and Lame VBR ~192. Tagging done with Mp3tag.

Here's my organizational recipe.

Tags contain:
ALBUM Album name
ALBUMSORT Last name or Band name; Release year
ARTIST First name; Last name/ or Band name
ARTISTSORT Last name; First name
COMMENT Adjusted by iVolume
COMMENT ITUNNORM XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
COMMENT ITUNPGAP 1 (if gapless album) 0 (if not gapless)
DISCNUMBER Disc#/Total#
GENRE XXXXX
TITLE Song name
TRACK Track#/Total#
YEAR Year of original release

Tags also have album artwork embedded.
I use iVolume to normalize the playback volumes of the tracks so I have SoundCheck turned on in preferences.

I am very particular about the year. The year has to be the original release year, not the year the 'best of' was released.

The library is defaulted to sort by "Album by Artist". Smart playlists can play by any genre or decade.

My oldest songs are from 1936.

Anyway, I just had to strut.

I don't know yet what pointless project I'll obsess over next.

Why, you're gonna box a set up and send to me cuz I'm a nice guy!

I don't have vinyl, but I do like the oldies.. I've a bunch of Django Reinhardt that I pull out from time to time.. like now maybe!

No Django Rheinhardt here. Does María del Rosario Pilar Martínez Molina Gutiérrez de los Perales Santa Ana Romanguera y de la Hinojosa Rasten count?

And be careful of the of the "boxing and sending" talk. That's the kind of thing the moderators won't tolerate.

Can you fit a name that long on anything? Each sheet of letterhead would require two pages... LOL

And yes, I was just 'funnin' about the box-n-send...

You should find some Django.. He and Stephan Grapelli had it going on!

I'm still using SoundJam Pro... don't want to hire an attorney to read the fine print just in case SouthPark writers know something I don't.

Hey what kind've phono pre-amp? CMOS or tube? My transistorized, supposedly hi-end integrated amp, sounds horrific when I spin vinyl.

...and where are the Stacks Records 45s?

Creek OBH-8 MM SS phono pre. All I have for spinning currently is a Technics TT with a P-Mount. It works OK, but I have an AR TT in need of repair that I picked up at a yard sale for $5. That was 7 or 8 years ago and I still have yet to take it out to the shop and make sweet love to it (modifying and such you dirty-minded freaks!).

I used to have a S**t tonne of music... that admittedly was not paid for. Since i started interning and such at studios and understanding the work that goes into music, iv since deleted ALL of it and started buying only the stuff I really liked digitally from iTunes.

In other words, i only have a few gb of music :P
