Default IE 8 causes PT's to crash

I know this has probably been discussed before but...
I'm running PT LE 7.3.1 and I just updated to Internet Explorer 8 which caused PT's to crash.
I tried uninstalling IE8 and PT's and reinstalling PT's and it's still not working.
The error I get is as follows:
'The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005)'

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Gary - I had the same issue.

First - check this: http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=243183 This thread has all the info on the IE8 issue. Most of this is related to plug ins and incompatibility.

I found something in the knowledge base that I can't seem to locate right now - but it was a quick registry hack for IE 8 - that I used, and everything works great now.
However - my issue was that PT wasn't even loading - no splash screen or anything - so yours may be different if it's causing a crash. . .

Cool Re: IE 8 causes PT's to crash

Thanks Wes.
re '...my issue was that PT wasn't even loading...'
Yes, I got it to a point where I could do a clean unlnstall of PT's.
Then, it seemed to do a clean install. But, when I go to run the program I get the error.
I'll check out the link.
Thanks again...

Run Registry Cleaner or something like that. It's a freeware that cleans your registry. Your PT and IE8 reg keys are probably still there which would prevent a proper reinstall.

I won't link you to the download page since it's nothing related to PT, but if you want I can always send the download page to your account or you can Google it. Any registry cleaner would do.

ALWAYS make a back up of your registry before you clean it.

That should be no issue at all. Leave it.
