Xpand 2 drum mapping question
Hey there, I just got xpand 2 and am a little new to it.. having used logic for drum midi mapping for some time now. I have xpand as a plug in on an instrument track and im trying to get kicks, snares, and cymbals selector on different octaves of the keyboard. the only way i seem to get any sound is when they're playing at the same time. "ect. cymbals and kick plays when i hit a key" how do i get all the sounds from each sample bank on theyre own ocataves on one instrument track?

Re: Xpand 2 drum mapping question
There should be a Part Name - Kick Menu under the Part Category.

Re: Xpand 2 drum mapping question
You say you are using the "selector" patches/parts, but are you maybe using a "menu" patch too?
The selector patches seem to be designed to overlap into a standard MIDI GM kind of map The menu patches give you the full range of each type of hit mapped over a bigger range of keys, but they will interfere with each other as you've noticed.. I'd recommend: Use the preset kits from the preset menu (not the part menus). They are already figured out to have a selection of sounds that work together.. Maybe you haven't been into the preset menu yet? Or If you really need access to lots of kicks and snares and cymbals etc, all at the same time, you can limit and change what keys they will respond to with the "TR" setting to transpose the keys and the "HI/LO KEY" setting to limit the number of notes per part... Or Keep all the "menu" patches as you want, but assign each part to a different MIDI channel, then use 3 additional MIDI tracks to control the individual parts..

Re: Xpand 2 drum mapping question
You can have up to 4 parts per patch in Xpand2. You can assign the sounds (eg. drum kits) to the keyboard by transposing the TR up or down.
You can also set the keyrange by right clicking on the Hi/Low Key so the parts don't mix. |
