page in/page out when bouncing
Hello, I´m a protools le 7 user on a powerbook 1.25Ghz with 1.25 Gb ram. Just for fun I started acativity monitor to see how memory and system worked when bouncing. When running pro tools, and other apps like safari, mail and msn in the background, I don´t get a single page out but when I start the bounce it jumps up right away to about 4000-5000 page out o around 7500 page in and all available ram is sucked up, there´s only around 14-20 mb free...when the bounce is finished about 200 mb is cleared.
Does anyone know what this is about??? Is the bounce-function "badly coded" or does it really take all that power to bounce??? would it help to upgradeto full 2Gb of ram or will protools suck up everything available then to? It dosn´t matter if I close safari, mail and msn because they don´t take so much memory, I´ve tried that too. I´m using digi002 and saving to a seperate firewire drive. Would be interesting to know if you experience the same thing.
