"Error, missing PACE authorization" with PT 2022.4 and iLok USB Key [FIXED 5/27]

I am back on 2021.12, which has now started demonstrating the same issue, but a lot less frequently.

I've been testing various installers and so far have found at least one third party plug-in that interrupts iLok during its installation. That causes the error discussed in this thread on my system.

P.S. While it's the plug-in installer triggering this, if you have the Install Options enabled in Avid Link please disable these to prevent automatic install from occurring while running Pro Tools (you can still manually initiate any installs in Link when Pro Tools is not open).

Which plug in is it? Why is Avid Link constantly reinstalling it? Can we just quit Avid link instead?

Disabling the Install Options in Link's prefs should be sufficient, but you could instead quit Link before launching PT.

Having the same problem ProTools not being recognised and asking to Activate or Quit not had this issue before 2022.4.

Running iLok license Manager 5.5.2 GM have unchecked the license cloud manager that was activated without me knowing as some suggest in this thread also looked at my iLok activations most of them are greyed out and unavailable for use only THREE LICENSES show available on the Local side within the iLok.

I found a video that explains how to stop Avid Link running at startup. You have to use text edit to adjust a document, but it is fairly straightforward. I still get iLok issues occasionally, but I just reseat the key in the USB hub and all is fine.

You can uninstall Avid Link.
The uninstaller is in the Applications > Avid_Uninstallers > Avid Link folder

But I didn't want to uninstall it; just not launch at start up and run in the background all the time.

After two days of work it seems quitting Avid Link has solved this, I know on my account I can see it reinstalling Falcon at random times for no reason. I believe when it starts that reinstall while PT is open it throws the iLok error.

Since I have unchecked "install apps silently", I have yet to have a single problem with licensing. Thanks to Jeffro to reaching out to me and helping me solve this.
