Default Annual Upgrade Plan - PT10/11 to 12 ??? [solved]

So, I have been reading replies from some you here that when you bought the Annual Upgrade Plan (99$) from PT10/11, that you did in fact receive licenses for PT10/11/12. Is that correct ?

On the Avid store they donīt mention anything about users keeping their PT10 license. They say that a PT12 license is included but I canīt afford losing PT10.

I am asking for insight from users who have already taken the plunge from 10/11 to 12 via the Annual Upgrade Plan (99$) Did you receive a bundle with a PT10 license ?

Thanks.

P.S Iīm not talking about the Annual Upgrade And Support Plan (199$)

I bought the $99 plan last week, and yes I still have my 3 licenses, 10/11/12 - you do get a bundle for all 3.

When Avid initially introduced the cheaper $99 plan option, they changed the licenses so you only got a PT12 license with that cheaper option. If you read very carefully the website did say that, but the announcement did not make that subtlety clear, plenty of people got caught out, and, naturally, there was domething of an outcry.

After several weeks, Avid relented and agreed to include 10 and 11 licenses again with the cheaper upgrade.

People who only got a 12 license because they bought the plan during that interim period can now get it swapped for a 10/11/12 bundle if they ask Avid, for free.

Plenty of people have reported in various threads here that they have correctly received the 10/11/12 bundle when buying a $99 plan since Avid changed its policy.

The fact that the website has not yet been updated in the weeks since Avid changed its policy is a bit puzzling, though I did read in a post somewhere on the DUC in the last couple of days that Avid is planning to update soon.

I had wondered whether not updating the website meant that Avid might be planning to change the policy back, perhaps from 1st January 2016, but that doesn't actually make sense when you think about it, because latecomers wanting to buy a plan for the first time then will have to pay $299 anyway.

Plus, the brownie points gained by relenting on the original draconian plan would be swiftly rescinded by the DUC Community!

So, go ahead, pay your $99 and you can be sure you'll get a 10/11/12 license bundle when you surrender your existing one.

Ok sorry for the multiple posts but this is really urgent since I want to take advantage of the new features but I can't afford to lose PT10.

I keep hearing from users that have taken the 99$ upgrade route that they do keep their PT10 license, but when I read the updated info on the upgrade plan Avid say that you only get a PT12 license ???

Yes, it's unfortunate that the webstore has lagged behind Avid's policy. But I can assure you, and as you see from other users, you get the 3 license bundle with the annual plan.

Thanks a lot for clearing this up for me. I'm gonna go ahead and upgrade

Default Re: Annual Upgrade Plan - PT10/11 to 12 ??? [solved]

Thank you Drew for clearing up this 10/11/12 issue. I have been not spending money on AVID because the website is so confusing regarding upgrade policies. I have a couple other questions I hope can be answered before I decide whether to got to 12:

1) If I take the $99 option and do not renew, will PT simply expire and stop working in the middle of a session? If so, will 10/11 still work?

2) I own TLSpace. If I upgrade will I lose that license and have it moved to a subscription model?

3) Once on the annual subscription plan, is the pricing locked in as long as I keep paying or can I expect the price to go up at some point? If so, when and how much?

4) Will annual subscribers get major updates (PT13) as part of their plan? If the answer to #1 is yes and the answer to #4 is no, will the accrued annual payments give them a perpetual license at whatever version they ended up with or will they be cut off cold?

I hope I can get an answer to these. I'm not bashing AVID, I've been a protools user for 25 years. I think these are all valid questions and I can't find the answers on the website, not can I get a response from the sales team. Thanks you.

No - PT will not stop working, and Yes - 10/11 will still work (along with 12). Upgrade Plans include a perpetual license bundle for Pro Tools or Pro Tools HD - the licenses do not expire.

No, it does not affect the license you already own. You will have a second '1 year' license for Space.

The fine print typically states "prices subject to change" but no plans I'm aware of to change pricing. Also, to clarify... it's an Upgrade Plan (Subscription is different and only includes a temp PT license).

If you are on a current Upgrade Plan (perpetual license) or a Subscription (temp license) then you get any upgrades/upgrades that come out during that term. Again, with an Upgrade Plan you get a perpetual (non-expiring) license, so if you don't renew your Upgrade Plan then you still have the latest version released while your plan was current.

Hope this helps, and thank you for being a long time customer!
