I apologise for the simple question, but Ive been unable to find an answer - can you mute a midi note? (or notes?)
I tried selecting some notes and using CTRL+M (as in muting a region) but it didnt work on the notes themselves. Im sure its simple and Ill have egg on my face..

you have to view the MIDI track in 'region' mode. Then you can create a separate region with the note(s) in question and ctrl-M to mute it.

You could also delete a single note or highlight the note and change its velocity to zero.

There's really another way to do this that facilitates what you're looking for without Digi having to re-write the program; use playlists.
Duplicate the current playlist, and just delete the notes that you want "muted". Then if you need to "un-mute" them, just switch back to the original playlist.

Personally, Mute Note would make more sense, switching playlists, deleting notes, splitting regions, muting regions, etc., etc., just compounds an already curbed editor. It's not often I disagree with you Shawn, though, this would be one of those rare occasions.

I'm not saying they shouldn't add that feature or that it wouldn't be welcome. All I'm saying is since the feature doesn't currently exist in the product, that using playlists is a viable workaround, and does it closer to the requested feature (IMHO) than the other suggestions, that's all.
We all know what "waiting for Digidesign to implement" means; we'll be old and grey before it happens.
