Default MacPro & Control 24 - Offline...

Hi I have a an Intel MacPro & a Control 24, but I can't seem to get it working!

I have read this previous post which seems to describe the problem I'm having, albeit on a pc, but did not fix it;

http://duc.digidesign.com/showflat.p...part=1#1067254

I and am running OSX 10.4.8, with PT 7.3cs1, and have upgraded the firmware on the C24.

The MacPro has dual gigabit ethernet ports, I have my C24 plugged into Port 1 using the supplied crossover cable, and my internet connection on port 2.

Both ports are listed under the network prefences panel in OSX. It reports that my internet is connected on port 2 (and it's working fine), and that port 1 is active, with a self-assigned IP address of 169.254.190.247.

When I go to the peripherals page in PT, both ports are listed, and when I click enable for either one (although I know the C24 is on 'en0' in the list) PT scans for connected controllers, completes the scan with the enable box still ticked, but the 'Name Unit(s)' field remains greyed out with those words. This is the same whether or not I have a session open.

I have checked that the C24 personality profile bundle is in the Controllers folder in the PT folder in the Digi folder in the Applications folder, have performed all other Digi recommended optimisations, checked the crossover cable, switched it round, re-booted the MacPro and power-cycled the C24 in various combinations but still no go!

At the rear of the C24 the green light is solid, but the amber light is intermittently flashing.

I suspect that something is amiss with my network settings in OSX, but I can find no reference to this, or to how it should be setup in any of the supplied documentation or troubleshooting threads. I get the impression that you're just supposed to plug it in, turn it on and click enable in the PT peripherals panel?

Any ideas?

Many thanks
J
