Default DAE 6.01 c s + Logic question

Let me try this one more time:

Someone clarify for me please:

Does this new DAE give Logic users the ability to run Logic TDM in OSX without having to upgrade to and use PT 6.0.1? i.e. the way it always used to be on OS9, just needing the freely downloadable and standalone DEA/DSI, or do you still have to have PT installed as well? If so, are we ever going to see a return to the previous situation, or do Logic users now have no alternative but to shell out the fee to upgrade to the latest PT (which they may or may not have any use for) ?
finally, how does it work exactly? Do you have to have both programs ( + DAE I guess) running at the same time?
thanks
Malcolm

Pro Tools does not have to be running. Pro Tools 6.0.1 components are required to use Logic Audio 6.1 with Digidesign hardware. There are a lot more components in Pro Tools 6 besides the DAE that are needed to access the Digidesign hardware the same way that Pro Tools does.

Thanks for replying. And the other part of the question, of course, pertains to wether this situation (being forced to purchase upgrades to the PT software) is going to persist. I seem to recall initially this situation was described as temporary, but I'm starting to sense a shift in tone towards permanence. So, just to be clear, will we have any alternative to shelling out, if we wait?

thanks

Malcolm

...at which point silence ensued.

Look at this as a bump
