G4 to G5 w 7.3 upgrade = problems

I upgraded my mac to a used dual 2.0 G5 PPC, and at the same time upgraded from LE 6.7 to 7.3. I'm having no problems opening and working with sessions created in 6.7, and no problems creating and working with new sessions; however, I am having trouble with several plugins.

1. While it doesn't seem to be an issue, each of the factory plugins are listed twice in the plugins folder. All of the eq's work, regardless which I select, same with the verb, comp's, gates, etc. IK plugins have been a constant authorization problem, so I avoid them. Why do I have 2 of each in the drop downs, and what can I do to get rid of the duplicates?

2. Reason will not open in a session. When I try to insert it, I get a DAE error #2 alert. I can open Reason independently though, and it functions as it should. Is this a Core issue? This is a significant problem because I use Adapted often.

I upgraded to 7.3 via d/l. Then, in order to get several other programs from my old G4 to the G5, I did the firewire mind-meld between the two (any trekies out there?). Worked well, but now I'm wondering if that is why I have redundant plugins.

Any help would be appreciated, folks.

Did you upgrade the plug-ins? 7.3 needs to only see the upgraded plugs in the folder. Delete any plugs that are not 7.3 compatible.

Welcome to the world of trying to get Pro tools 7.3 working. So far I have downloaded over 1GB of various updates....I'm nearly there but had a new problem...see above thread however, I may be able to help you with the IK authorsation problem. This is a mail I had from them a few weeks ago.


"Just find the IK Multimedia folder on your hard drive. Inside that is the
Sampletank folder. Inside that folder is a PREFERENCES folder. In this folder
you will find a small text file called ST2Prefs.txt (or similar name). Just
delete this file and then try authorizing Sampletank again. It should work
fine after that."
