Default Waves H-EQ

Hi,

Just got around to updating my Mercury bundle to get this new H EQ.

Kind of Waves take on the BX-Digital plug, 7 band EQ M/S etc.

Really nice and much better than their previous surgical EQ's plus the spectrum display is a bonus. Also does M/S which is a nice feature. As with all Waves its very easy with everything on one page and very intuitive to use.

Would like a way to adjust the Q-curve with a modifier key in conjunction with the mouse!?

The THD harmonic distortion is a nice feature and it goes up to 1000%

One thing i would like to see is complete isolation of the M/S channels or solo in place, so you could have 100% M or S only.

Another thing i would like is to have separate THD for M and S. would be great to be able to add it the stereo field and not effect the mono etc.

Just my thoughts! anyone else have opinions yet.

Chris

I really like it. VERY flexible with the different models and sounds great. The asymmetric bell curve is a new one on me so it's nice to have that option.

I've had some odd distortion on one track that went when I bypassed the high band. (This was with THD turned off.) The track was under recorded so the input to the plug-in was way down and there wasn't anything like enough boost anywhere to cause overloads. Odd!

With Waves' recent price cuts it's a no brainer buy.

Can't you just solo M or S and leave it? I suppose you could send to two aux's with mid solo'ed on one and side on the other.. a bit long-winded perhaps.

This would be a nice feature..

Hi,

No the solo feature places the S into mono monitoring. Solo in place would work or the ability to completely turn down the mono, but at the moment you can only turn down 30 db so still get phasing if you have 2 channels, one for mono and one for stereo.

I use the original BX Digital for this as you can turn either the mono or stereo field right down. Bizarrely they left this off BX2

Send the guys at Waves a note.. I'll do the same as it would be very useful. Maybe next version will have an update.

Hi,

Having an issue with the TDM version, Very random but sometimes when it starts playing a region of audio i get burst of digital noise! Switching to RTAS fixes it.

Interested to see if anyone else is seeing this...

H-EQ produces continuos white noise when the tdm version is used on a bus. Rtas is fine. This one was released just a little bit early....

Cool eq, I like the freq adjustment via the on screen keyboard! Sounds nice as well.

That's odd. I've been using H-EQ for a week solid now and never had the noise bursts.

My honeymoon with it is coming to an end though. It sounds great but one stereo instance is eating up 88% of one chip!! Bypassing the RTA doesn't make a difference.

Also, I'm often having to pull the input level down. It seems very easy to overload when boosting, even when the output meters aren't showing any overs. Something seems funky with the internal headroom.
