Using BOOM with Odd Time Signatures (3/4....6/8)

Looks like your stuck with patterns in 4/4.

if you don't want to use the step sequencer, you can program beats in using the midi editor in any time signature.

Yeah I've always been able to record midi patterns with boom no problem. It would be nice to be able to do it with the step Sequencer.

who knows maybe they might do it in a future release.

I can't get Boom to recognize my time signature. It stays in 4/4 time. Any thoughts?

What *exactly* are you trying to do? And what *exactly* is happening?

You are almost certainly better off driving Boom from MIDI and it sure will follow time signatures, tempo etc. of whatever you are sending it.

Otherwise the boom sequencer is an incredibly simplistic tool, that squirts out 16 notes per bar and it seems folks expect too much of it at times.

It's probably not worth the effort or possible to get it to work in anything other than 4/4!

3/4 is one thing, but some plug ins start to have issues with MIDI sync when you use any compound meter, and to make it even more complicated most DAWS don't support a beat resolution other than a quarter which is what is desired (but not necessary) for 3/8, 6/8, 9/8, and 12/8.

So the "ideal" 6/8 set up would probably be
Beat resolution dotted 1/4
Click either 8th or dotted 1/4 depending on tempo and feel
...
but this creates a lot of room for error with plugins that really on the tempo map of the project to subdivide rhythmically.

One of my biggest beefs with almost all arpeggiators and drum VI's is that they don't seem to take into account that there are time sigs other than 4/4. A few do, but its not the norm by a long shot and Boom is no exception.

On the positive side a simple 16 beat sequencer does give excellent coverage for 2/2 polkas
