Is FW(400) express card a solution?
My external HD has firewire but my laptop doesn't it seems. If I buy an
FW 400 express card will that work? ALso will that solve my CPU problems? The songs with more plugins won't even start(interfering with other CPu tasks) even with 2gb ram and a 3gb page file. According to taskmanager I'm only using 800MB ram. I now work with ext HD 5300prm USB,PTLE 7.3cs6,MBOX2. (have also a HD 7300prm firewire 400/800) I recently upgraded to win sp3. First time running pro tools after restart the 1 song with 23 plugins plays all the way thru,no stops and then 2nd time my system slows down so much I can't play the song anymore after that. I restored my system to sp2 then again upgraded to sp3. 1st run of protools will again let me play the song once thru without problems but that's it. Any wisdom on this? www.reverbnation.com/junemoris |

Re: Is FW(400) express card a solution?
I bought today a Delock Express Card 2x 400 FW with Texas Instruments chipset and works fine with my 003Rack. But for my ext. HD I am using Lapto's FW (Ricoh Chipset). The HD of course is working perfect on Exp.Card as well. I bought the Delock because I cannot find an SiiG here in Hungary. Also I know about the Unibrain Express Card (Texas Instruments) that use a lot of ProTools users in Greece.
