Default Need conversion from 6-circuit firewire to 4-circuit socket in laptop

Hi i've got a rack 003 which has a 6-circuit firewire 400 plug and I'm looking to get that plugged into my computer which only has usb 2.0 & a 4-circuit firewire socket. What would be the best way to convert this without losing speed on data transfer. Thanks

the extra pins on the 6 pin fw is for power. you are not losing any data speed. you can go pickup a 6 to 4 pin fw cable at about any electronics or computer supply or online.

My guess is just to use a 4-circuit firewire cable which would (I believe) not carry power which again I believe you would not need going from an 003 to a loptop or powered ext drive. But that may be the least of your problems, not many laptops are qualified to run PT efficiently.
