Default Waves auth on USB stick?

Who likes it?

Who hates it?

Stories?

With all my partitions (for testing purposes) I am thinking of moving the auth to a USB thumb drive, but it makes a little nervous.

I have Waves and Plug In Alliance licenses on a USB drive because I run several test and QA images off Thunderbolt connected SSD images and have never had a problem. Find it extremely convenient.

I think that the point is whether or not you feel like you won't accidentally lose the USB stick. How many small things have any of us lost? When you look at it that way it wouldn't be impossible to think that that might be a factor to consider. I for one don't feel as sure about not misplacing the drive as I do about having the auth's on a computer or in the cloud. They're much easier to keep track of if they are in either of those places.

I use a USB stick for my Waves and Plugin Alliance licenses on my main PC, no problems so far.

I like it. I have my Plugin Alliance and Waves auths on a tiny USB drive. That and my iLok are plugged into a small USB hub. When I travel, I grab the hub.

PA gives you the ability to deauthorize a device at will, and Waves lets you do it once a year. And my iLok has ZDT and TLC enabled, so I'm not worried too much about losing anything.

I wish they had iLok support. I moved them to a USB stick last week making sure to label and make it as obvious as possible to someone that it wasn't for using. It would be my worst nightmare if someone came up 'to borrow' the drive only to find out they had formatted it. It would also be better if it didn't show up in your connected drives list on the OS.

But yeah, I prefer iLok. I wish everyone used it, then all my licences would be on one easy and convenient hidden USB stick. One that no-one could accidentally erase or load files onto.

Agreed. not that we can do anything about it....but it's frustrating to need 3 dongles in 2016. In my case Ilok, E-Licensor, and usb stick for waves and plugin-alliance.

I used to like Waves in my iLok but moved to USB drive. Been there for at least 2 or 3 years now and no issues.

Yep, I use the Waves USB stick authorizations and it seems to work fine.

I do worry about the thumb drive failing or getting erased and wonder what Waves would do in such an instance, since they don't have TLC type plan.
