Default Pro tools 001 vs MOTU

I need some advice.

I wish to get into the computer based recording. I already own a g4.

my question is I have access to a mixer, 01v and an adat. But I also need to start recording on a computer for logistical reasons. I would utilize the mixer as much as possible and the adta.

I do not know which system to investigate. MOTU or Pro tools 001.

i want as much flexibility as possible in the future. I know i will grow into as i learn it.

Where do i begin to get a handle on the diffrence in the two?
