Re: HD Native Thunderbolt headphone port
As far as I am aware, none of the Waves Soundgrid options are Dante compatible. Maybe I'm wrong about that? But I don't see any mention of Dante in any of their product literature that I have seen thus far.
I don't need to route anything out of Protools, except for a mono or stereo cue bus to monitor my recordng stream. But it was my understanding that HDN is limited to 64 channels of simultaneous i/o total. Not 64 channels in both directions...?

Re: HD Native Thunderbolt headphone port
JC, see the post I made right before yours. (We overlapped posting)
So, if you want more than 32 into PT as cheap as possible, then HDN is the way to do it up to 64 I/O I/O, as in IN and OUT simultaneous. If all you need to do is get 64 in there, you can use HDN Thunderbolt for 64 in, and have the ability to assign 1 & 2 outputs from a bus, which would duplicate on the headphone jack. You would only be using 64 IN and 2 OUT, leaving 62 more available OUTs. Follow? Sounds like this should work for you. You would have to have the tracks from the session routed, or at least cue outputs routed - routed anywhere in the PT I/O setup - doesn't matter if the other end receives anything or not, just allows the headphone jack to get a signal. Follow? Honestly though, check my last post. I do a lot of remote location recording, and live recording.... I used to do it all into Pro Tools via 192's or HD I/O's via HD Native or HD.... but now I do it across SoundGrid, most often into Tracks Live (FREE). Then I just import those audio tracks into Pro Tools. Very simple. Super rock solid stable.... super light on CPU load. A very very good option. Considering the cost of the Focusrites and HDN, it would be cheaper to do the DiGiCo Orange box with Dante and SoundGrid cards and use Tracks Live. Just my .02
