Default Differences between the UA 1176LN and MC77 plug-in

I'm interested in the Purple Audio MC-77 plug-in. Are there major differences between UA's 1176 and the MC-77?

Thanks in advance.

Havent done any serious tests with them yet, but upon switching between the two of them for the same program material, the MC77 seems to color the sound more with bite and/or distortion. Just putting a bass thru it with a little compression changes the sound pretty drastically compared to the 1176 in my opinion. But again, this is from me switching between the two quickly and not really giving it a critical listen. only first impressions so far.

Haven't used either the HW or SW version of the MC76/77, but I recently purchased the UA 1176 plug-in which I'm very happy with. I always thought the BF 1176 was more colored and distorted than any real 1176 I've ever used and the UA version is much more to my liking. I wouldn't be surprised if the MC was dirtier. The UA seems more like a new-old-stock unit. Taste is all that matters here.

Actually, I just tested it again, and woah. I think my MC77 is not working as it should be. It HEAVILY distorts the bass. Should it be like this? Its turning a sinewave style bass into a triangle wave. And Im not talking some subtle golden ears stuff-- This is MAJOR. And I compared it to the 1176 with same settings (med attk, med rel, -3dB compression happening) and the 1176 adds some harmonics, but in that agressive 1176 way where its very subtle but fuzzier. The MC77 destroys the sound to a distorted buzz. Great for an effect but I dont think its meant to be reacting like this.
Anyone else?

doesn't distort here.. slow down the attack. you can't compare the two plugs by setting them to the same settings because they are based on different units.
