Default Error Bouncing to disk in .wav format

I am unable to bounce projects to a .wav file.

When I try to do so, it goes through the process of playing the song through the MBox, counting down the time, and even creates a file. When I attempt to play the file with Windows Media Player, the media player attempts to connect to the internet to search for a codec. It then reports that it could not find the necessary codec, and the file will not play. I've tried installing the codec update for WMP but still have the same problem.

I have no problem bouncing to .mp3 (except that they sound like crap...).

I appreciate any suggestions.

-Jeff

Jeff, welcome to the DUC.

With what samplerate/bitrate are you bouncing the files? Are you bouncing them as stereo interleaved? It sounds like you are bouncing files at a higher samplerate/bitrate than WMP can read.

A better question might be, what is your intention with the bounced wav files? Ar you going to burn them to CD? Send them to a mastering engineer? Send them over the internet?

for a normal audiofile bounce to stereo-interleaved/16 bit/44.1 or 48 hz.

If you want to burn to CD bounce to setreo-interleaved/16 bit 44.1 Khz.

Thanks for your help, guys. I was bouncing in stereo interleaved / 24 / 44.1.

My goal is to master the songs with SoundForge, burn to CD, and send it off for pressing. Once I changed it to 16, it worked fine.
