Default HDX is GONE after installing Sonoma 14.6.1

Mac Studio M1 MAX

What version of Pro Tools? 2024.6.0

What HD Driver version? 2024.6

You upgraded from what macOS version? 14.6
Just doing a normal in-situ update? Yes

Anything else changed? No

HDX does not show up where? Anywhere
What *exactly* are you looking at. In Audio MIDI Setup? Not There

In Pro Tools Playback Engine? Not There
(what does show up there)All the usual stuff just no HDX

Is Pro Tools starting up as Ultimate? Double Check it is. Yes

What basic troubleshooting have you done (under "help us help you" up the top of each DUC web page). Start at least with trashing prefs. Trashed Prefs-Still not there

UAD stuff is likely better helped on UAD's forum I have a ticket with them.

Thanks for starting a new thread. For other folks the problem mentioned by the OP was

Quote:
I installed 14.6.1 and now my HDX doesn't show up (M1 Max Studio)
Nor does my UAD Octo box...
----

What exactly is the "UAD Octo Box"? A Satellite Thunderbolt 3 or any chance this is this an Octo card in a Thunderbolt chassis?

If so is it shared with the HDX? Or does it share a cable/port with the Thunderbolt PCIe Chassis? Be nice if there was a simple explanation for both issues.

In System Information do you see the Thunderbolt Chassis and HDX card? (maybe just identified as a "PCI" device if the driver is having problems, I don't have a HDX to look at)

If not I'd check cables, power cycle everything, reboot the computer.

If the Chassis and HDX card show up in System Information then it's a driver problem. Instead of trying to look into that I'd just start by doing a HD driver uninstall and reinstall, making sure you follow all the instructions to do the driver install.

Can you describe in English/answer the earlier questions about what you have and how it's connected.

Does the HDX Card show up in PCI devices (even if not identified as HDX?)

I’d bet my hat the security settings are altered. Boot in recovery mode and set security to less secure.

I can't get deep into this now but to offer some optimism I can tell you that HDX hardware is 100% compatible with Sonoma 14.6.1 and the MacStudio. It did require some softening of security measures as suggested above -- without that my MacStudio wouldn't see the HDX hardware.

You are wasting time. Get onto Avid support. *Apple* first/second tier support is unlikely to have much of a clue here. You would have to get to a senior back-end support engineer there who is good at understanding drivers to have much hope and that ain't going to happen quickly.
