Default WTB: Geethree stealth serial port or griffin G-port for quicksilver G4

Like the title says, I have a quicksilver g4, would like to convert the modem to an 8-pin apple serial port for use with old MIDI interfaces.

Also might be interested in opcode studio 4 or studio 5 midi interface.

hey there john
im in a similar position, i have myself a griffin g4port already
and im trying to install it in my g4 quicksilver 867mhz
but im not sure as to how to remove the old modem parts

I may have to tear down the machine entirely and rebuild
as there seems to be no way to remove the modem box without
completely removing the motherboard itself from its position
ie: unhooking everything + unscrewing the motherboard

im looking for guidance from someone else who has done this previously!

id like to just cut the wire and save myself some time as im pretty sure
i wont be using the modem anytime in the future, is there any reason why
i shouldnt?

well.. i couldnt wait anymore.. i just snipped the cable with a pair of scissors as neatly as possible..
i guess ive left a length of it under the motherboard but it was alot easier then removing +
dissassembling everything, and ive got my g4port installed.. havent booted it up but everything seems
nice + secure + 100% im sure ill have no problems.. so moral of the story.. just snip that modem cable..
and chuck that modem card in the bin

for info on networking the studio 4

I was going to say, on at least one model of g4, the only way to get the modem wire out in one piece is to remove the motherboard, or cut it. But in 2014, there is no reason that you'd ever want to put the modem back.

I ended up getting an AMT8 usb interface, which seems to work well so far.

yes of course the amt8 and mt4 both have a legendary reputation when used with logic audio!
we have a community dedicated to using logic on mac os 9 at www.macos9lives.com ("digital audio workstation forum") if u ever want to discuss technical issues or problems!
