Hardware Insert question
I wired my old spx 90 up to my 002 Rack. Output #5, inputs #'s 5&6 on the 002R (mono in, stereo outs on the spx). My problem is that I can only use the spx as an insert on one track only, by selecting i/o 5&6 from the insert menu. If I try and select it on more than one track it says that 5&6 are already being used by another.
So, how can I use the spx as an insert on all or any of my other tracks? Is there a different hard wiring configuration, or preference set up or something else I am overlooking? Thanks in advance for any help. |

Re: Hardware Insert question
I wouldn't use this as an insert but a send and return. Still send to analog 5 (which you can do on multiple channels). Create a stereo aux and set the input to Analog 5+6.

Re: Hardware Insert question
Thanks. I'll give it a try. I'm not 100% sure I understand what you're saying to do in terms of hard wiring though. Should I keep it the way I have it with the 5 output and 5&6 input on the 002R, and then it's a matter of using it as a send via an aux track sharing 5&6 with all the tracks in the mix?

Re: Hardware Insert question
Yeah, you have it wired correctly. You could pick any output and input pair (analog 8 output, analog 1+2 input). Hardware insert lock off a input and output pair (5 in and 5 out). Send and return through an aux allows you to use any input and output you wish.
With your current wiring, as long as you select Analog 5 as a send of the track, and Analog 5+6 as the input of your stereo aux, it will work without changing anything. You're basically using the spx the same way you would any plugin reverb in pro tools.

Re: Hardware Insert question
Thanks. My Computer is down right now, but when I get back up and running I'll approach it the way you suggest and see how it goes... I appreciate the help
