Mapping multiple keys to single keyboard button to simplify key commands?
I'm an ACI and one of my students has a disability that prevents him from using key commands. He's able to use a mouse or push one button on the keyboard at a time.
Does anyone know if there's a way to map multiple keys into one keyboard key? For example, if I could map command + C to one key on the keyboard so that he can use it to copy. OR Does anyone know a good controller that would serve the same purpose? Thanks! |

Re: Mapping multiple keys to single keyboard button to simplify key commands?
Command Focus mode will get you halfway there. It turns on single key shortcuts for common actions like Copy, Cut, Paste, Separate, Fade, Trim, Nudge etc..... check the manual - the "Pro Tools Shortcuts Guide" lists them. Look for the little AZ button at the top right of the Edit Window - the timeline portion not the clip bin.
For fully functioning custom control you could look at something like X-keys keyboards https://www.x-keys-uk.com Along with Keyboard Maestro https://www.keyboardmaestro.com/main/

Other possible solutions:
1-Streamdeck makes some handy controllers that are programmable https://www.elgato.com/en/stream-deck 2-several companies make USB-connected function controllers that may be able to create and use macro's(2 possible contenders below) https://www.e3-keys.com/ https://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...saAqu4EALw_wcB

I'm personally enamored of Soundflow; yes, it's subscription, but it's saved me many many hours and can automate almost anything. Plus you can connect it to a Streamdeck device or an iPad with customizable buttons. Might be overkill for this particular application, but worth knowing about.
