Default Native Instruments FM7 Installation on ProTools 10.32 on OSX10.68 Snow Leopard

Just wondered with FM7 being RTAS Carbon-era plug-in, will it work with ProTools 10.32?

If so, where would the RTAS plug-in be installed so it works within the software.

The standalone app works fine in Snow Leopard but so far it's not showing up in PT10.32

Would appreciate any help and advice please.

You should have a .dpm plugin for FM7 in the same folder as the rest of the .dpm (aka RTAS) plugs. Does it show up at all during the plugin scan on the opening splash screen? You may have to run the Mac OSX 10.5 and 10.6 Installer Patch in the Utilities section of this page: http://co.native-instruments.com/ind...ates#Utilities

This will patch the installer files of whatever plugin you point it at. I know I used it to get some old NI stuff that was not Universal Binary running on 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion). I know the original FM7 was not universal binary.

What loads in off the original FM7 CD is a file called "FM7 RTAS Carbon" which put itself in LIBRARY > APPLICATION SUPPORT > DIGIDESIGN > PLUG-INS folder.

Note there is no .dpm suffix on the end of it until FM8.dpm and the rest of the native and 3rd party plug-ins, which is basically why I wondered if it even works in SL10.68 / PT10.

Thanks for the link. I'll have a dig through and report back.

If it's in the folder with the other plugs with a .dpm suffix and it doesn't have one you may well have to run that patcher I linked to. If you have FM8 why bother with FM7 unless you have a session that absolutely needs it.

No, didn't work I'm afraid.

The patch didn't see the original installer on the original FM7 install CD?

Even dragged it off the CD onto the desktop but nadda.

Tried installing the RTAS only plug-in again but it turns up in the same RTAS (Digidesign) folder with the rest of the plug-ins and a different icon to the rest. Even tried putting .dpm at the end but ProTools 10.32 didn't like it on start-up and wanted to put it in the UNUSED Plug-ins folders.

Any other ideas? I've just put in a Support request at Native Instruments to see if they know how to get FM7 to work in ProTools 10.32

Apparently you have FM7 as an individual product right? If so it might be in your account at NI. Go to the 'My Serials and Downloads' page and see if it's available for download there. Not all old programs are available there but your might. For instance my old B4II and Pro53 are there which I got as part of one of the Komplete bundles.

Maybe, but you're missing a lot of the features that were added in FM8. I actually prefer the FM8 interface even though I started a LONG time ago with the original FM7.
