PC audio & midi: better together or separate?

PC audio & midi: better together or separate?

I'm a Mac/PT TDM user about to build a PC rig to run GigaStudio and Acid. I'll be feeding the PC MTC from the Pro Tools/Mac rig, then recording the Giga-Acid outputs back into the Pro Tools/Mac rig.

Regarding the PC setup - I've heard conflicting reports as to whether it's better to have audio and midi integrated on the same soundcard or whether it's better to keep audio and midi separate on different cards or interfaces. Each camp claims it's method offers tighter sync and less latency. Being a PC/Wintel newbie I was hoping someone here might have some thoughts on the subject. Anyone???
