Default Adjusting Master output levels

i calibrated my dbx 4820 using our old soundcraft series 5 . getting a sc48 and plugging it straight into the same program left me nervous the first night. i got into the driveware and gave myself +10db. seemed to help a bit. unfortunately, i get noise when i try to make it louder so im wondering if there is an output control on the desk? at +3 on the analog desk i hit -6 on my driverack which gave me +3 of headroom before my limiters kicked in. now with +6 on the sc48, im at -8 on the driverack. i still have some room but cant get anymore...any ideas?
this forum kicks but btw. ive looked for an answer before i wrote this..sorry lee if im redundant

Default Re: Adjusting Master output levels

Hi,

All VENUE systems can put out a maximum level of +24 dBu, which is the same as analog consoles, so a good place to start is to check gain structure and metering. Using peak meter mode versus RMS and driving the console to 0 dB on the meters can cause the type of low output level you're describing. See this link for more info on meter modes and gain structure.

I like much this scale, I think it's more proportional and usefull of pro tools channel metering.
