Default Studio Project Mic Pre

Has anyone tried the Studio Project VTB1 mic pre-amp?
If so what do you think? Better than the pre's in the M-Box?

Save your money. If you want the tube warmth in a serviceable pre, get a Bellari MP 110 on eBay and save yourself some money. However, if you want a discernible value-based pre, and you're willing to spend $179... Consider adding another hundred and getting a ART Pro Channel http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ProChannel/.

I have this, and I like it, expecially for playing with sounds with. The Variable tube drive lets you hear it with different amounts of distortion, which is good, I think. You can get it for $100 if you really look, and I think that was a pretty good deal.

Hi folks

I also have two studio project mic pre's and I must say that im pretty satisfied with the sound. Sure you can get mic pre's that sounds much better but the sound/price taken in concideration its way better than other budget pre's. Its also a matter of needs cause compared to ex. focusrites budget-pre's you wont get a compressor, a de-esser and digital output. My advice would be to take a couple of pre's home and a/b test them against each other and decide for yourself. There are just as many oppinions as there is mic pre's and the cheap onces are not necessarily the onces that sounds the worst.

Good luck
