how can i import 192 file into a 48 session?
Before you say "what a stupid question", check this out. I don't want to sample rate convert it. I want it to play abck at 1/4 speed. I can't seem to find a way to do this. PT 6.2.2. Inn the old days, when a file was imported, if it had a different SR than the session, it would warn you that it would play back at a different speed. Well, now, it just converts it.
I have heard that great ultra smooth speed manipulation can me accomplished this way for sound design. People have recorded insect flying at 192 and played the recording back at 48 and reported hearing all kinds of stuff that was previously above the range of human hearing. Someone, please, say this is possible with my PT HD2, 6.2.2 on Panther with a 192 I/O. Thanks |

Very interesting.
Do you have Sinc I/O? Can you tell Sinc you are @ 192 and PT @ 48? Then play back @ 48? I know I'v done this (by mistake 48 & 44.1) w/ USD. |

yes, that is what i was thinking. a way to alter the resource fork, or whatever it is called, to make pt think it is a 48 k file. I don't know sound hack. any details appreciated!

SoundHack Freeware
It's simple enough to use. Open the file in question in SoundHack. Select HACK>Header Change (command H) from the menu. A dialog box will pop up indicating the current sample rate, # of channels and bit depth. Type in 48000 where it says 192000 and apply. The next time anything looks at the file, it will appear to have a 48k sample rate.

A 192kHz file won't have a resource fork.. you need something akin to my Header Investigator which runs under OS X -- you're dealing with either AIFF or WAV files here which don't have resource forks.
