Default New to Pro Tools Studio

Hi,

I've been using PT 10 for a decade now. I just recently updated my entire studio. Part of this upgrade was to Pro Tools Studio Subscription. My question is this: if I transfer my license from cloud to iLok USB Key, will that alleviate the need to always have internet connection?

Thanks in advance.

Yes. Absolutely. You need an iLok 2 or iLok 3 (current metal key) key, just like you did for Pro Tools 10.

I suspect most folks here would prefer an iLok over cloud for connection reliability.

Just buy an iLok key from any Pace/iLok dealer. Plug it into your computer, use the ILM (iLok Manager) app to assign that iLok key to your iLok account, and then use ILM to close your cloud session and then drag the license to the iLok. If you get lost there are lots of examples online how to do this (maybe for other products license by iLok but they all work the same). Or ask for help here if stuck.

If you want the license on the same as you Pro Tools 10 iLok you can do that too, I just assume you might want them on separate iLoks for flexibility.

If this is work critical you may want to look at ZDT/TLC on the iLok web site that lets you get fast recovery of a license/subscription. And if so have a spare iLok or you can run the temporary replacement license from the cloud while you buy another iLok.

Pro Tools Studio also includes many (but not all) of the features of what used to be a HD license back in the Pro Tools 10 era. Remember that all plugins have to be AAX-64 (Pro Tools 10 supported RTAS and AAX-32).

Thank you! This is extremely helpful!

My internet tends to go down sporadically. This is a huge relief.
