dual boot system and computer upgrade
Hello Everyone. I was wondering if anyone knows if you could have a dual boot system running pro tools 5 running on 98se and pro tools 6.1 running on Windows XP. Also, what is the recommended mother board to run for these operating systems. Thanx alot.

Re: dual boot system and computer upgrade
I have a Digi 001 too.
I used to run a 98/NT set-up. A headache. You do know about the problems with 98 handling memory above 500Mb? If you plan to have more than 500Mb you need to tweak soemthing in the registry before you install the RAM, or 98 will keep crashing. I've just looked to see if I still had a rather good article on the subject, but I think I've thrown it away! so you'll have to research that yourself. Send an email to Martin Walker at Sound on Sound, I'm sure he wrote the article I refer to. No such problems with XP. My advice: don't be nostalgic about PT5 and 98. Go multiple boot XP. Read my contribution on this thread and this article from Sound on Sound. Best of luck |
