How do you like the SB Live? This puter came with one and I am trying to figure out just what I can and can't do with it. Do you use the SOundfonts at all?

Do yourself a favour and get a soundcard designed specifically for audio recording...but keep the SoundblasterLive for using your soundfonts...or you can get the Steinberg Halion VST synth plug-in that uses .sf2 soundfonts and get rid of the soundblaster altogether. You music will show a definite increase in tonality using a higher quality soundcard than the soundblaster. Sounblasters are good...but there's much better out there than that if you're serious about your recordings

I had a Terratec SC. It did not work with PTFree, just pitch-shifting and the "your Input/Output is not sync..."-message. So I tried the SB Live Player 5.1. It didnīt too, but with the other driver itīs working fine.
I want to buy special Soundcard in the future, I know, itīs nessesary for me, but in the meantime the SB is good enough I think... I didnīt really work with the Soundfonts, yet... But I will.

Soundfonts ROCK!! I never used them up until about 3 months ago, though I heard alot about them. Wasn't MIDI savvy enough to feel comfortable about setting it all up to play. But a buddy of mine(keyboard player)showed me how easy it was to use in Cakewalk, downloaded a ton of them from the free sites and been hooked ever since. So now I use Cakewalk to record the keyboard parts, convert them over to audio files, and then import the audio files into PTF for final mixing. That's where the SBLive card comes in handy.
