Exclamation Pro tools le 8 upgrade (win xp)

I have upgraded to LE 8 and have the necessary Audio and Processor requirements.
When Pro Tools processes the initial Load in, it freezes at installing the "xpand!" plug in, and won't go any further.
Xpand was already installed in the system, and reading the guides, it should automatically overide xpand.
There is obviously an issue with xpand. Can someone guide me in what to do next.
Would I have to re install the previous version and install the Upgrade to uninstall previous version?

There has been a known issue with some PT8 installer disks so that may be your problem. If you bought PT from online store you should have different downloads available in your Avid Account such as 9.01 or 9.02 Full Installer. If you bought it elsewhere, get in touch with Avid & set up an Avid Account so they can put a downloadable copy into it.

Once you have PT successfully installed, I would install 8.05 (free update). You do not need to uninstall the current (successfully installed) version, just download & run the updater.

Thanks Zedhead.
I will try your suggestion. The other question is that, I have A PCI Delta Audiophile 2496 sound card, and reading the compatibility gridi it should be compatible with Pro Tools LE 8., but i'm having some doubts as there are many contradictions with Avid as far as using dedicated peripherals and PCI cards.
Could this be the issue with the installation. I don't know, as I have yet to get to the stage to enter my Authorization code.
regards

Fred

Protools 8 and earlier are not compatible with other brands of interface, including the one you mentioned. PT8 needs a Digi/Avid LE interface, like the 002/003, or Mbox series.

Protools 9 allows you to use any interface, but you need to be on Windows 7 to use that.

Thanks guys.

If I buy the suggested interface, will this solve the problem, or will I be throwing away good money for bad?

Apart from the sound card issue, the problem has to be somewhere else, because when I connected my M Audio Fast Track Ultra to the Win XP ,(which should work with Protools 8) via a USB, the same error occurred.
If I have to buy an interface for the Win xp, that's ok. But can someone assure me that the problem is the soundcard, and not something else

I believe you need PT M-powered for the M-audio interfaces. PT LE works with Digidesign hardware.

Thank you all for your help.
I have ordered Mbox, I believe 00(Four in four out with Midi)
One last question I have. Will I need to disable my PCI Maudio Audiophile 2496 for the Mbox to work with Pro Tools 8?

Maybe. In theory, the Mbox will not recognize the PCI interface at all and you SHOULD not have any issue

Thanks all again. When I "commission" the Mbox and get everything up and running I will let you guys know of the outcome. Thanks again.
