Default Input and sync questions

I have just installed Pro Tools Digi 001 on windows 98 and for some reason only inputs 5 & 7 are working the rest i cant get a signal through. I have checked the routing scheme in the setups menu and everything seems in order. I have unhooked the cable fromm the digi 001 box to the cpu and reattached it and still no signal.

I am also curious if anyone knows how to sync pro tool to a Tascam MX2424.
