Default Deleting files

One of our computers is having an issue with emptying the trash. It feels like it's getting rid of them one at a time, and when we're clearing out a few old projects, 5 minutes to trash 4 Gb (around 2000 files) is not right.

The computer is a G4 500 AGP with 312Mb of memory running OS9.2. We have a second identicle(sp) system that performs the same task in under 0.5 seconds. (Well, I haven't timed it exactly, but you get the idea.)

I knew another engineer/studio with the same problem on an old 9500 system. He fixed his by getting a new computer when he upgraded to a Mix system.

Any weird trash prefs that I don't know about?

Might you have Norton FileSaver or some other utility that stores information on deleted files enabled on that computer? There is a check box in FileSaver for "Track Deleted Files/Folders". TechTool Pro protection has a trash cache as well, which may work similarly.

Bingo.

Someone enabled FileSaving on our dockable drives.

Things are peachy now.

Thanks,
