Re: I\'m ready for my download..........
Let's see...at about 4kbs (typical throughput on my 56K Apple modem), it will take how long to download 50MB? Anyone care to do the math for me?
4-5 hrs? Could I download it to a Zip drive from my PC's cable modem and load it on the Mac? That would take less than a half hour... ------------------ LW

Re: I\'m ready for my download..........
lwilliam, I'm shocked!! The Mac should be hooked up to the cable modem, not the hunk of junk PC(just kidding, you Windows geeks). The ZIP should work just fine. Although if it's taking you 1/2 hr to download 50MB via cable, then I think you need to talk to your cable int. service. Just for example, I downloaded the Mac OS 9.1 update(65MB) in less than 6 mins.( and it was kinda running a bit slow...).

Re: I\'m ready for my download..........
My cable hookup doesn't go to the studio bedroom where the Mac is.
I was just guessing about the time for downloading on cable. Six minutes would be great! [This message has been edited by lwilliam (edited February 15, 2001).]

Re: I\'m ready for my download..........
Your download should take about one to two weeks according to Bruce.

Re: I\'m ready for my download..........
Me too when/if it becomes available.
Strange, how can they sell PT MIX and Dig001 when they cannot sell a simple SW upgrade to international customers ?? Pardon Our Dust — More Pro Tools 5.1 Upgrade Information Hey! I thought you said it would be available on February 15th? What's the deal, or delay? A note to those of you that have been anxiously awaiting the Pro Tools 5.1 upgrade program. We had previously listed an expected launch date around February 15, 2001. In building the new DigiStore, we have encountered some delays due to complex legal and financial issues involved in worldwide e-commerce. Because we are custom building our own e-commerce solution, we now anticipate a delay of one to two weeks from our original estimate. Specifically, we are required to build into the database the VAT or Value Added Tax for each country. This assures that you will be charged the correct rate for your country. Not doing it this way would have caused many international accounting problems for Digidesign and potential customs problems for our customers. This issue has caused the delay of the launch. We could just raise the cost to everyone, but we would prefer to do this the right way, and the way that is the most fair to all of our customers. As you can imagine, we are just as eager to sell Pro Tools 5.1 to you as you are to buy it. We are doing everything we can to expedite the availability in every possible way. Our main motivation for providing downloads in addition to the shipping upgrades has always been to provide our users with new software in a much quicker way than we have ever been able to provide before. Please accept our apologies for this delay of one to two weeks beyond our initial estimate. We know this is disappointing , and we certainly can appreciate your frustration, but we are striving to provide the best possible solution for all of our worldwide users. Thank you for your continued patience. Digidesign Customer Service February 15, 2001 ------------------ >>We need more time so that everything doesn't happen at once<<

Re: I\'m ready for my download..........
Where did you get that quote from Digi? I looked on the User Conference in Digi Announcements but there's no mention of this.
