Dragging Audio from Desktop into Edit Window doesnt work PT9 LE

As the title says I cannot drag audio into the edit window from anywhere (workspace, desktop, etc) for PT LE v 9.05. Any help would be much appreciated to help solve this problem as it is making my life VERY difficult at the moment. Also on a side note, I can import audio using the import command, just cant drag and drop. (computer specs below)

we have somewhat similiar systems and I just dragged from a finder window to a 9.0.5 session np. maybe close everything and run permission fix using Disk Warrior - better end result than disc utility. also go into yr workspace window and make sure you are dragging from an allowed HD?

Havent used disk warrior to repair permissions, but have used the disk utility. The HD I'm using is set to record so I would imagine that would work right? I also just found out if I wait about a minute, the beachball goes away and the audio imports but its much faster on lesser systems that i've used (only a couple of secs). So on that note PT seems to be running really slow I have the Hardware Buffer set to 1024 and I'm still getting CPU overload messages. Any thoughts on what I can do to solve this problem?
