Default Sudden quit during DSP reallocation

I've been mixing for months....no problems. Then last night when moving a plugin and then again later when changing an output routing, PT does a sudden quit. No freeze...it's just gone.

Tried the ususal trashing prefs, etc. Did a clean uninstall, reinstall, now upgraded to cs6. Disconnected, reconnected the cables...nada

Still same thing. Anything I do that requires DSP to be reallocated does this. I can see the reallocation begin, and before it gets half done, then the crash.

Any ideas? I'm dead in the water and am against a mastering session Tuesday.

Mac 10.4.10
G5 Dual 2.5
2.5 RAM
PT 7.3.1 cs6

It sounds like a plugin issue...

Hi
I had this issue on my other hd2.
This system is unforunately not always uptodate
Sudden quits without warning. Protools is just gone

After I updated ALL my plugs to the most recent version this problem was gone since today.
I also removed some plugs (free ones) I do not use anymore.

Just check your plugs

Thanks for the help guys. I did need a Wave shell update, so I did that. Also pulled some plugs I rarely use. One thing I was trying to see when the reallocation happened was if a certain plug was there just before PT quit. For one thing, it goes by fast, but it didn't seem to correspond to anything that made sense.

As for updating plugs, I remember a plugin update Digi used to have. These days, where can you find out if you're up to date...without opening every plug you have?

In any case, I'm back up and running. After the Waves update I was still getting crashes, but I faked it out by inactivating my fx returns (usually a DSP hog, especially Echo Farm) and then ran some RTAS plugs on the master, then one by one (saving in between) activated the Fx channels.

The problem isn't solved, but at least I can make my next two mastering dates before I head off to the Sierras for a needed vacation!

Thanks again
