Default Profire 2626 Problem, I'm completely lost.

Hey guys,
I just bought a Profire 2626 and Pro tools M-powered last night and it is totally kicking my ass. I'm new to Pro tools but after watching the instructional video that came with, I thought I was cool. I thought wrong.

Like I said, I'm using a profire 2626 with m powered on Windows XP. Separately the things work great. The Profire is working and Pro tools boots up and works well. I just can't get my inputs to work on Pro tools.

On the program that came with the Profire, It recognizes that I have a guitar plugged in and shows me the levels. So it is working. Also, the guitar plays out of my outputs. I just cant get my guitar into pro tools.

It is in Input 1, on a mono track, and pro tools just goes on like nothing is being recorded. Maybe its a software problem, or a user problem. I don't know, I just dont like that I can't get it to work.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Clay

The M-Audio setup applet thing in System Preferences should show you your input routing etc. How is that set up? You can drag those inputs around in the order...your analog ins 1-8 ought to be first on that list. Then you need to assign the input of your mono audio track to the matching input and press the record button on the channel strip, then record and play on the transport.

Something to check also is the i/o dialog and hardware setup etc.

This can be hard to get to work in any DAW! A smart friend can help a lot. Otherwise try M-Audio's forums.

They have taken to now editing my text. So I can't guarantee anything you read from me was written by me. So far it has only been deleting lines they apparently don't like...

Yeah I know it's an awful lot of work. And I'm not the digibasher that some people make me out to be; I'm constructive I would say, and I want the company to succeed. I'm just astounded that something like this happens probably every day:

Quote:
AA: "Hi, I'm Ambitious Andy, and I LOVE your Profire 2626 and Pro Tools M-Powered. I heard you offer a Complete Production Toolkit that will let me use 128 tracks and surround sound! Woohoo! How do I pay you the $2000 (in pure profit)? Will a credit card do?"

Digi: "Go away. We don't want your money. "
How can they turn away free cash like that, or tell people to dismantle their studios and buy different things first? Do the shareholders know?
