Default glyph

hi,
a short question,
is anybody using glyph hardrives?
are they noisy? i find those ice cube hard drive enclosures without a fan noisy, not the ice cube itself, but most harddrives are noisy and you hear them through... so is the GT050 from glyph more noisy than a ice cube? or hopefully even less?
thanks
evs

I'm looking into an Isobox just for my Glyph (GT051). It competes with my Mackie 32/8 power supply as loudest of the rig.

I have a GT103 chassis with three carriers. I recently replaced both fans, and the thing is whisper quiet. And I do mean quiet.

In addition to which, Glyph's technical support has been really good for me.

I'd like to hear more about this 103 mod. Does the replacement fan move as much air? Do you know if they are the same fans as their GT050/051? I can't find any pics of the GT103 rear panel.
Thanks,
Shawn

My apologies. I should have been a little bit clearer. My GT103 has always been very quiet. But some months ago, I had to send the rack and carriers back to Glyph because there were some problems with the FireWire bridges.

When I got the rack back, the fans were far noisier than when I sent it in. Rather than sending the unit back, tech support suggested that they send out replacement fans (for free for a four year old unit) and that I install them myself. It took about half an hour (you do need a hex wrench) and the fan noise virtually disappeared. I mean I'm hard pressed to tell if its on without looking at it.

As to the model of the fans, I didn't pay attention. As far as I know, they are the same fans that they use currently.

Hope this helps clarify my original post.
