What are you using to create drum patterns/tracks

As a dedicated Fruity loops user, even to the new FL Studio, I have a love for making my own patterns and beats etc...

With my new powerbook, FL is not an option to me. Well..it is and I could import the samples and loops etc...But in the interest of being portable.

What do you use, outside of a real drummer and a box full of mics, to make drum tracks.

I am interested in both electronic and acoustic styles as well as an option of adding my own samples.

Should I look at samplers like battery? Is there a program like fruity that is for mac?
Midi options?

numerology is killer for programming (expermental) live midi beats.
It´s what Ableton is for audio.

just add a source.

batter is great, !IF! you like it as it is now!, since NI doesn´t put much afford in updateting this thing. It´s great also as a generic Sampleplayer for BASS, synths etc., something most other "DRUM" modules won´t offer. I LOVE it.

If you want a good Drum Plug try something like VST-RTAS wrapper from Fxpansion and LINPLUG RMIV e.g.

I have the cut down version of Reason and am currently using it/learning it.
If I had a drum set and was a little better drummer (all of my drum beats sound like AC/DC) then I would go that way.

I am looking at Battery...and five12 looks cool yet complicated. I guess I am looking for too much. Fruity is exactly what i am used to and love using.

Anyone use things in XP with virtual windows?

Where, what is that?

It's called a drumkit, actual people play them rhythmically with sticks and their feet. they make sounds similiar to a drum machine, and you use micropohnes and preamps to record them.

Another vote for Reason along with some additional sample/loop libraries. A good get-going-fast-and-maybe-replace-later option is the stuff from Drums on Demand. Cheap, decent quality acoustic drum loops for rough ideas and/or replacement of click tracks.

There's no shortage of electronic drum sounds around - it's the grea-sounding acoustic stuff that's tough to come across...but Drumkit From Hell with Reason is a good start.

reason and battery here. both work really well, and are quite simple to learn.
