No, you have to have two hard drives for this to work, and getting anybody else's software to work with Digi hardware is chancy at best. Digidesign designed their hardware and software to work as a SYSTEM. AND even cheap hobbyist-type recording software will need a dedicated drive, it's just how it works. Kind of like in the old days, when you bought a 1-inch 16 track, you had to buy tape at $65 a reel.
(Which by the way, ideally you could only use ONCE unless you wanted to destroy your original session...)
Try this.....go to www.byteccstore.com and get one of their firewire hard drive cases...they have the oxford chipset in them (I think it's the ME720) for around 30 bucks, then go to www.mwave.com and grab a 7200-rpm hard drive for 50 bucks. Instant Digi-approved external fw drive for under a hundered bucks.

If you honestly can't figure this out after a year and a half, I suggest you find someone who knows about computers and Pro Tools even better, even if you have to hire someone as giving you any more input on this subject, I don't think will actually help you. I'm not trying to be mean here, but at this point you should have someone else get involved as it appears you don't understand what all of the users have tried to help you with.

When you say you're trying this stuff again, does that mean that you procured the necessary QUALIFIED hardware? Trying what didn't work when you started this thread still isn't going to work. Your system is not up to the task as it stands.

hey carosel or whatever....thanks for being an arrogant [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep]...made all my problems go away!

i have not produced the appropriate hardware...i searched the two links that were given to me on the last post and i wasnt able to find exactly what was prescribed to me so i wanted to make sure i wasnt wastefully spending money. Im a teenager not an audio engineer and i dont have money to throw away. obviously these forums arent for the casual user tho.
