Default Hi all - can I pitch shift a guitar track down..

..an octive to sound like a bass? I've got a cracking "bassline" played out on a strat with funky pops and clicks and all, but it needs to be an octive lower..

1) can pro tools do this?
2) will it sound sexy or cack?

Cheers!

Hi
If you don't have a pitch plug-in like Pitch 'n Time, you do it with AudioSuite. Highlight the region with the grabber, go to the AudioSuite menu, select "Pitch Shift". Move the slider to -12 semitones, select the "time compression/expansion" box (or whatever it's called) and let it rip. It will process the file and create a new one, either in the region list that you then drag into your track, or directly over the highlighted one if "use in playlist" is checked. Be sure, although you can Undo. Play around with the "Sound-rhythm" slider, it can make a big difference depending on what you pitch shift.
All that aside, I'd have to say good luck on making this work, as that drastic a shift will introduce a lot of artifacts, I would think.

So, good luck, hope this helps!

Thanks Joe.
You'll get an album credit for that!
