Hi All.
Just installed 11.1.3 HD and 10.3.9 HD and both freeze/crash on loading plugins. 11 only states "Loading Core Plugins" whereas 10 indicates the plugin and it freezes on the first plugin (AutoPan) most of the time though some times it has gone to the second and once made it as far as DownMixer - so no real consistency there. Ive searched the forum and the web and have seen a couple of things related to plugins at startup but were not related to the problem I'm having. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a known recommendation for a solution? Thanks in advance for any help. Very much appreciated. Cheers Ian

First thing to try is trashing preferences.
There is an app somewhere here on the DUC that will do it for you, called 'Trasher'. Or you can do it manually; Mac: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mj2fJHOz8GA Win:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VG3TxshRU7Q If that doesn't work, un-install any third party plugins and try opening PT. Make sure you only install AAX 64bit plugins for PT11 and for PT10, AAX32Bit and/or RTAS Failing that, you'll need to provide more information on your setup and exactly which plugins you're using.

Thanks for the reply Zed.
The trashing process yielded no change unfortunately. Uninstalling the new versions and installing prior versions yields the same problem. The specific plugins are not the problem either. PT crashes at the beginning of the plugin initiation. (ie 10 indicates that it is looking at AutoPan which is the very first plugin in the folder and 11 as soon as the Core Plugin message appears ). This is additionally proven by the fact that i can take the plugins out of the plugins folder one by one in order and the application will just crash on the first one of the ones remaining in the folder. Also AutoPan and all of the initial plugins in the folder (alphabetical order) are Avid and not 3rd party. What types of information about the system setup are normally required or provided to aid in diagnosing problems? (Any specific system overview analysis?) At a basic level: Win 7 Ultimate. Dual Intel E5-2680. 32 GB ram. 2 Samsung 240 SSD Drives. (Not Connected to Internet) Lynx Hilo. 4 Artist Mix 1 Artist Control. Pro Tools 10 HD 11 HD Various Virtual Instruments and Plugins.

I was getting this same problem and tried all the above to no avail , and previous versions worked fine ...., untill I installed 10.3.9 ( last version that got updated )thing ..................,
I even tried uninstalling the plugs which would hang , then next time it would be a different plug hanging at PT startup ..., I tried trasher , everything .........., It caved my head in so much that I done a complete windows re-install followed by pro tools 11.1.3 + 10.3.9 then all plugs ..., and now everything is fine . Its a drastic mega time consuming work-a-round I know ( lucky I keep all my install exe's and sample libraries etc backed up on a spare Hard drive , so I didnt need to re download anything all over again (except all the windows and antivirus updates) ..., but it worked (for me) after this effort ..., when previously all else had failed. |
