I keep getting a message saying that the os held off interrupts for too long, it always happens in the middle of my recordings. it says to raise the hardware buffer to allieviate the problem. i've got my computer running at 85% and when i raise or lower it to any of the buffer rates, it still happens. what do i do to my system (PC, 2.0 gz) which is new, in order to stop this.
using: protools LE 7.0, gateway platinum edition laptop, mbox 2, oxygen 8 midi controller (usb port), studio projects condenser (input 2), guitar (input 1). Everything is new! plus, sometimes when i record, my sound randomly cuts out, im not sure how to run plugins in order to avoid this, do i use aux tracks or what? Please don't give me a link to a big forum to fish out answers, i need direct help, someone please. Thanks, Eric. PS. im new to recording... |

The General Troubleshooting thread is relatively short and easy to follow.
You should try all the suggestions there including posting more complete system details. |

Brother, I've had this trouble for over two years at one time or another. I am no guru, so I';m going to suggest something to try, O.K. I believe this might do it. (1)go to cantrol Panel/ then systems. In systems click on hardware. Inside hardware, click on Device mangager. Look for a thingy called, "Primary IDE channel properties. Right clikc on it and go to the advance settings. ON that page your going to see two things called "Tranfer Device" on both of them, click on "DMA if avalible". One of mine had been reading "PIO" I have no idea what it is, but make sure it is in transfer mode DMA. Restart your computer and cross your fingers. I sure hope that this will help. If it doesn't do it, go back the same way, only update your drivers. Lots of luck. let me know if it worked o.k?

Can you provide more info on your hard drive situation? Are you recording to the laptop's internal drive or external Firewire drive? Have you gone through Digi's recommended system tweaks?
