ProTools hang when opening plugins or closing plugins

Pro Tools was working great, including last night when I called it a day at about 4 in the morning. Today, when I started working on my project again, I found that trying to open or insert most plugins causes Pro Tools to hang, and it seems that those that do open fine hang when I try to close the plugin window. I am forced to restart Pro Tools. Upon restarting, I am able to play the session and hear it, but I can't do anything with any plugins.


I have tried trashing my preferences and rebooting countless times. No luck. I'm grateful for any suggestions.
