Default Any NAB/Musikmesse predictions?

With PT11 likely to dominate the NAB headlines for Avid, any predictions from the ER community (for NAB and Musikmesse, both this week)? Seems a bit quiet around here ... no one going to say 'standalone editor'?! OK ... just did!

It's not looking that way, based on the leaks. The Hollywood Reporter leak (now deleted) summed it up as being PT11, Media Composer 7, and two new Fast Track interfaces.

However, that might not be the whole story, because there's been a lot of chatter about new stuff for live use (maybe new Venue system, etc.).

So I wouldn't get your hopes up, but I wouldn't rule it out either.

Thanks NST7!

Did the Hollywood Reporter leak relate specifically to NAB? Maybe some of the more consumer/music stuff (if anything) would be released at Musikmesse ... then again, I think the article also mentioned new Fast Tracks?!

Hopefully, Avid will be better placed following the PT11/64-bit re-write to adapt more speedily and possibly give some love/resource to ER (without this being considered wasteful, as PT10-based changes may have been)!

I suspect we'll get some better insight into Pro Tools' future by the end of this week e.g. will Avid launch anything new for iOS ... an iPad editor was previously proposed by Avid as an alternative to a standalone Mac/PC editor for ER, but they could go further (like Cubasis for Cubase)?

I may post this in its own thread, but Avid's new special offers are out.

They're once again offering the free plugins with purchase of Eleven Rack and Mboxes.

Keep in mind that if you get these after today, you will not only get the free plugins, but you will get PT11 free!

Damn! So there will be new users here asking questions about how to use their rack with PT11, while I'll be stuck on PT LE 8.0.5, just great. I hope Benoni gets a complimentary free copy so he can answer all the newbies questions.

I must say that PT11 does look good .

Any news on how much this new mythical beast is going to cost, not that I can afford it, just like to be in the know.

I think its $299 for PT10>11 and $399 for PT9 or earlier >11 and $499 for PT Xpress >11

Sweetwater has the price for PT9 to 11 as $299, but thats the upgrade to 10 which if you buy it now, then you get 11.

Vercingetorix,

Considering these prices, you might want to just get a new one, and then sell off your existing Eleven Rack and software separately. That might come out cheaper than just buying the PT11 upgrade. Plus you'd get the free plugins! If you don't want them, you can sell them too!

My MusicMesse prediction.

The beer will be a lot better than what's being served at NAB.
