You didn't go past 1024 Samples for the Buffers did you? It only increases latency if you monitor through PT rather than the Studio Capture (which has 81 samples of latency).

Thanks everyone!

Bob the stuff below may help you.

1: I would put Pro Tools back on the Fusion Drive for now. Hopefully someone from Avid will confirm this is ok...

2: Go to your User Control Panel on the forum here and enter your system specs like I have so others will know at a glance what you are working with and possibly have extensive knowledge of your setup.

3: Have you run through the Optimizations as outlined in the posts for Macs? Here is a link to the guides for each OS:

As long as you have a fusion drive and don't separate it so you have the SSD and the spinner or swap it out for a fast 7200rpm or better drive (best to choose an SSD drive for OS) you will have problems. It is like that for all users of fusion drives, they don't work.

And PT need to be on the OS drive for best performance. Recording to second drive atleast 7200rpm/SSD in USB3/Thunderbolt case.

Hi everyone thanks for all the help!

I have been in touch with avid and apple and have found that the issue is that PT isn't working properly with Yosemite 10.10.4! unfortunately i cannot go back to 10.10.3 as i didn't set up time machine so i can't check to see whether rolling back will fix the error! but if anyone else gets this issue and has 10.10.4 the first thing you should try is rolling back to 10.10.3!

Did Avid say Pro Tools doesn't work with 10.10.4, or just that it's not supported? The reason I ask is that people on other threads have said it seems fine. Obviously there are lots of variables so the fact that it works for someone else doesn't necessarily mean it will for you, but I don't recall reading about anyone having trouble with the 10.10.4 update.

I have also seen many lengthy discussions of trouble with Fusion drives, including a recent one that included a description of how to split the SSD and HDD sections into two separate drives to fix the issue.

I don't have a Fusion drive nor any expertise in the matter, I'm simply passing along an observation based on what I've read here, but based on that I'd be willing to put money on the problem being with the Fusion drive and not the 10.10.4 update.

Of course, I could be wrong!

Ok so avid didn't say that it didn't work they said it could be causing the issue and that since Apple released this update that they have had a lot of calls regarding similar problems! So in my conversation with avid they said that rolling back the OSX system was a way to fix it! (Not the only way) Also my PT worked fine with the fusion drive on 29th of June. I updated the OSX on the 30th of June and then went on to PT and the error started to occur! This may only be a coincidence. Could you tell me what forum that was in about the fusion drive and I can try that and see if it works because then I can work out which it is and not only do I get my PT working but hopefully others can get help from this forum as well!

Thank you very much for trying to help!

Just use the search fuction here as there have been A LOT of threads about issues with Fusion drives, Avid has even been saying that so it won't make any difference as Fusion drives WILL cause issues with 100% certainty.
